What Is CBD?

Cannabidiol or CBD is a chemical compound found in both the marijuana plant and also the hemp plant. CBD may be extracted from either, yet with the Hemp plant, there is minimal THC found naturally.  THC is what creates the “high” feeling when associated with marijuana use. CBD is becoming more understood as having potential benefits spanning multiple medical conditions afflicting us throughout our lives.

CBD binds receptors in what is called the endocannabinoid system (ECS). These receptors are highly concentrated in our nervous system, especially the brain, yet also found in the digestive tract, the skin, and other major organ systems.

Research has shown that CBD functions to regulate several aspects of the ECS and is responsible for many of the beneficial properties without the cognitive high associated with the larger THC molecule.

Numerous clinical studies have been done, or are being done to investigate and learn more about the benefits for chronic pain, cancer-related pain, wellness/anxiety, epilepsy, sleep disorders, degenerative neurologic conditions, diabetes, and PTSD to name a few.

We feel that the medicinal properties of CBD are just beginning to be unearthed and there is a myriad of medical ailments that may garner benefit from the properties of cannabidiol.
